Program Administration Assistant - Adult Education

Reports to: Deputy Director, Education Center
Location: Education Center
Status/Hours: Part-time - 20 hours per week - schedule to be determined
Salary Range: $20.00/hour - $20.00/hour

Program Description:

The Education Center provides adult education services to the Brooklyn community. We serve 500 students yearly with GED preparation classes, ESL classes, and vocational training. In addition, the Education Center operates a Family Welcome Center in which we provide case management & wrap-around services, workforce development programming, and regular community workshops & events. Many of our students speak Spanish, Arabic, or Chinese as their first language.

Position Description:

The Education Center is hiring a Program Administration Assistant to work with our ESL and GED preparation programs. The position will support the program with administration assistance, data entry, and by supporting students in achieving their goals through case management and wrap-around services.

Responsibilities:

  • Administration assistance, data entry, and filing.

  • Responding to phone and email inquiries.

  • Intake for students entering GED preparation and ESL classes.

  • Work with students in the development of education & employment plans.

  • Keep up-to-date case notes in the ASISTS database.

  • Assist students in signing up for the Job Zone.

  • Collection of vital records.

  • Attend professional development training.

  • Other duties, as assigned.

Qualifications Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Language skills in Spanish, Arabic, and/or Mandarin preferred.

  • Strong communication skills.

  • Strong time management and organizational skills.

  • Strong problem solving skills and the ability to be resourceful.

  • Willingness to collaborate with colleagues and work as part of a team.

  • Ability to be communicative in the face of stress, feedback, or change.

  • Available for weekend and evening coverage.
